Houston in Action Responds to Primary Day Confusion & Rejected Ballots
HOUSTON, TX – Following confusion at the polls, and thousands of rejected mail-in ballots across Texas and in Harris County for today’s primary elections, Juan Cardoza-Oquendo, Director of Public Policy at Houston in Action released the following statement:
“There's no room to fail when it comes to making sure that all eligible voters are able to cast their ballot—there's too much at stake when the process doesn't go right for someone. The state of Texas continues to put up barriers to democracy, but despite that, voters across Harris County are showing momentum for the 2022 primaries. We need laws that uphold democracy, not tear it down. Houston leaders, Texas leaders should do everything in their power to make that a reality because no matter what party you belong to, every vote matters.”
