What we do

As one of our region’s broadest reaching coordinating, facilitation, and convening bodies, our role is to support our communities in building their organizing, advocacy, and communications power. We bring the experience of being conscientious facilitators grounded in racial justice, equity, equitable access to justice, and who possess a willingness to break down the barriers that have limited the influencing power of communities of color. 

We have organized collectives to work for the makeup of registered voters to be proportional to the age and racial makeup of our local population, we have pushed for the equitable distribution of voting centers, and for the protection of the 2020 elections, and have worked to address the health access inequities that stand in the way of our communities’ vaccination rates. Throughout our work, Houston in Action has served as the scaffolding upon which Black, Latinx and AAPI leaders, community expertise, policy insight, communications strategy can come together, evolve, weave together and grow stronger.
