We are on a mission to transform our justice system by actively working to reduce the harm caused by mass incarceration.

The purpose of the District Attorney (DA) and Sheriff Community Platform Campaign is to create a policy platform for what we want our Harris County DA and Sheriff to do when they assume office in 2025.

Why is this important?

The DA and Sheriff control a huge portion of what goes on in the criminal system. The DA singlehandedly decides what offenses to prosecute and how many resources to invest in prosecution and greatly influences sentencing decisions. The Sheriff polices areas outside of the City of Houston and runs the county jail. The DA and Sheriff are up for election in 2024. We will use the elections to ask the candidates to adopt our community platform.
