Our working principles will ensure that we provide an inclusive process for deliberation and collaboration through: 

FREEDOM FROM DISCRIMINATION Guaranteeing protection from all forms of discrimination, bias, and harassment when engaging in the work of the Initiative 

INCLUSIVE DECISION-MAKING Establishing inclusive decision-making bodies, which have diverse representation across identity groups and power dynamics 

EVERYONE HAS A VOICE Respecting every participants’ voice and perspective and lifting up the voices of all social identity groups.

ACCESSIBILITY Creating spaces and communications which are accessible to every participant

ENGAGEMENT WITH COMMUNITY Engaging in ongoing dialogue with the communities that the Initiative serves in order to inform continuous improvement and accountability 

GROUP GOALS OVER OWN INTERESTS Prioritizing the goals of the Initiative over our own interests when we work together 

EQUITY & SYSTEMS LEVEL CHANGE 

Actively working to balance civic power by changing systems that affect civic participation among communities who have been historically marginalized because of racism, sexism and other forms of discrimination and phobia.

Committing to resolving Initiative conflict through direct, honest communication rather than 

toxic non-confrontation
